Being involved in a criminal case can feel overwhelming. Your Safe Haven works with the Bedford County District Attorney’s Office to help crime victims receive information about their rights and available services.

This work supports the rights outlined in Pennsylvania’s Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights.

Your Safe Haven provides information and assistance to crime victims who may qualify for financial help through the Victims Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP).

Depending on eligibility, the program may help with:

If you have experienced sexual assault, compassionate support is available. The Bedford County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) brings together trained professionals to provide medical care, emotional support, and medical-legal examinations.

The team includes:

• A specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)
• A Your Safe Haven advocate
• A police officer

Services are provided through the Emergency Room at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. This program serves adults and teens ages 13 and older and provides resources and education to support physical and emotional recovery.
